UDS Partners AfYEF to Advance Plans for John Dramani Mahama Presidential Library and Legacy Centre

The University for Development Studies (UDS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the AfcFTA Young Entrepreneurs Federation (AfYEF) to support the development of the proposed John Dramani Mahama Presidential Library and Legacy Centre.

The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu, on the Tamale Campus of the University.

A Formal Framework for Collaboration

The agreement establishes a formal framework for collaboration between UDS and AfYEF in key areas including:

  • Academic research and archival documentation
  • Civic education and leadership studies
  • Digital curation and knowledge preservation
  • Student skills development and capacity-building initiatives

Delegations Present

AfYEF was represented at the ceremony by its President, Mr. Hissan Siita Sofo, who was accompanied by members of his team. Also present were representatives of Telecel Ghana, AfYEF's partners for communication and data solutions:

  • Mr. Cobbina Jonathan — Enterprise Regional Head, Northern
  • Mr. Dawuso Christopher — Regional Sales Manager
  • Mr. Gbedemah Kelvin — Solution Architect

Significance of the Partnership

The partnership is expected to contribute significantly to efforts aimed at preserving the legacy of President John Dramani Mahama while creating opportunities for scholarly engagement, leadership reflection, public education, and digital knowledge preservation.

The brief ceremony was characterised by cordial exchanges, the presentation of souvenirs, and discussions on the practical implementation of the MoU, as well as future areas of collaboration between the parties.

The event was facilitated by the Directorate of International Relations and Advancement of UDS.
